The staple of the modern and classic home in Eastern America is the Colonial. Becoming popular in the late 1700’s, this home was centered around the family and what was important to them. These homes are typically square or rectangle and are classically symmetrical with the entry door in the middle of the home. Shutters and covered porches are often found here. The modern design has added garages and other creature comforts and room sizes have grown. Unlike Ranch homes that are one level, Colonials are two or more levels.
