One of the most popular home styles that comes to mind is the Ranch, also know as a Rambler depending on your geographic location. These are characterized by single level living, often open concept living spaces, and decks or patios out back. Rooflines are typically low pitched and have more windows in the front and back of the home.

Unlike Colonial homes, the design in not always symmetrical by utilizing “L” or “U” footprint designs. The smaller homes are however usual rectangle in shape and have reverse gables to add a sense of character to the front of the home. When there is a basement the home is referred to as a raised Rambler or raised Ranch home.
