There are lots of homes across the country that are deemed haunted.  My own can turn a little scary after the littlest Jones has been left unsupervised for long enough and it can send tingles down my spine.  Whether its a heinous act that happened on the property or just a vibe, those who appreciate a good scare might enjoy visiting these spooky houses.

Winchester Mystery House:  What started out as a farmhouse in San Jose, CA became an unending construction project as Sarah Winchester continuously built onto the home until her death.  The home has 24,000 square feet with 160 rooms and 10,000 windows, 47 staircases and 2,000 doors.  The winding hallways and staircase often lead to dead ends.

The heiress to the Winchester Repeating Arms Fortune after her husband died, Sarah spent a lot of money in creating this spooky house.  Today, the home is open for tours where you can decide if you feel the presence of the ghosts roaming the property.

Lizzie Borden House: Interested in staying in the home whether Lizzie Borden was charged with murdering her father and stepmother?  Believe it or not, you can.  Although she was acquitted in court, the news of the mysterious violent murders of Andrew and Abby Borden caught the attention of the nation and turned the once quiet town into the location of one of the spookiest houses in the country.

Located in Fall River, Massachusetts, the Official Lizzie Borden House offers tours of the home and also operates as inn.  It is set up as it was in the 1800s.

Biltmore Estate:  The majestic estate built in Asheville North Carolina by George Vanderbilt was a vacation home for the family.  With 35 bedrooms and 43 bathrooms there is certainly enough room for everyone in the family.

The home was opened for tours by the family.  Out of all the spooky houses, this one seems to be filled with positive vibes as guests to the home and employees have reported hearing names being called in the hallways and the echoes of parties of the past.  While the Biltmore doesn’t offer any specific tour for ghosts, you can still schedule tours and see what you experience by chance.

The White House  Who would of thought the home of our president would make it onto a list of spooky houses? Guests, tourists, employees, and even presidents and their families have claimed to witness activities of ghosts on the property.  Sightings of Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Jackson, Dolley Madison have been reported roaming the property.
