Happy Independence Day!  If you are looking for something to do today, here are some 4th of July events happening near Locust Grove.

Culpeper

The town of Culpeper holds 4th of July events all day long.  The Culpeper Freedom 5k starts at 8:30 in the morning and while you might be too late to enter the race you can cheer on the participants while sipping on some coffee from Raven’s Nest.  Many of the scheduled events are happening at Yowell Meadow Park throughout the day.  From 10-3 p.m. children can try out kayaking at Yowell Meadow Park.  Live music is happening during the day too.  There will be a historical presentation in the afternoon. If you get hungry, food trucks will be on site. Craft vendors, moon bounces, and more will be set up throughout the park to entertain everyone in the family until six.

Enjoy looking at classic cars?  Then stroll along East Davis Street anytime between ten and three to take in all the vehicles during the FREEDOM car and bike show.

The big finale to the 4th of July festivities is the firework show that takes place at Rockwater Park at 9:15.  Just a heads up, Rockwater Park is closed prior to the fireworks display, so you will be unable to park there. Lake of the Woods

Lake of the Woods hosts its own Independence Day celebration, but it is on Saturday July 6th which is great for all of us who have to return to work on Friday.  For more details, click here.
