Wilderness Shores is a community of single family homes and townhomes in northern Orange County.  Part of Locust Grove, the homes in Wilderness Shores are halfway between Culpeper and Fredericksburg.  With easy access to Route 3, many people commute from Wilderness Shores to areas in northern Virginia and Culpeper.  The homes in Wilderness Shores have access to a community swimming pool, wading pool for babies and toddlers, and a clubhouse where you can hold events.  There are two playgrounds and a walking trail that leads to the Rapidan River.

From townhouses to colonials

There are several styles of homes in Wilderness Shores which is divided into two sections.  The first section of Wilderness Shores has the original two story colonial homes and single level living homes from when the community was first developed.  The second section of homes in Wilderness Shores are newer construction.  This section features spacious two floor colonial homes and ranches.  The colonial homes have an open kitchen to family room area and full basements.  With three to five bedrooms and two to three and a half bathrooms, there is plenty of space in these homes for friends and family.  Searching for one level living in Locust Grove?  The ranch homes may be just what you need.  They too have an open floor plan.  There are also townhomes in Wilderness Shores.  Although smaller in width, these townhomes do not lack square footage; they are between approximately 1,500 to 2,500 square feet.

Shopping and Dining

The homes in Wilderness Shores are not even five minutes away from shopping for everyday essentials at Walmart.  You can drive a few more minutes down Route Three to find Food Lion and CVS.  If you are searching for a gift, then head down Route 20 to Maddybug’s Gifts to find a unique item from the store.  There is also an urgent care center, an auto parts store, and dollar store in the same shopping plaza.  Locust Grove also has several local doctor offices, a post office, dentists, two dance studios, and a hardware store.

Locust Grove has various options for dining including fast food, like McDonalds and Taco Bell to sit down meals.  Enjoy a hearty breakfast or Italian dinner at Bella Cucina.  Visit Clear Water Grill for a burger at lunch or have dinner and drinks there in the evening.  Next door to Clear Water, El Vaquero offers Mexican cuisine or you can grab a pizza at Two Brothers.  For your morning coffee, try Witch’s Brew which is located off of Route 20.  Guacamole’s and Mama’s Pizza are two restaurants in the same shopping center.  Since Fredericksburg and Culpeper are a short drive away, there are also many other dining options available in these towns.

There are local seasonal farmers markets held on weekdays throughout the area.  Residents with homes in Wilderness Shores can make the quick drive to Wilderness Run Vineyards for a bottle of wine or to enjoy an event held there.  Germanna Community College is also nearby.  If you enjoy walking trails, the Germanna Foundation has several trails near the Visitor’s Center that go through the woods.  Living in Locust Grove also offers convenient access to all the events happening in Culpeper and Fredericksburg.
