See what paint colors are trending for 2024

Each year paint companies put out a list of paint colors that they predict will be popular choice for homeowners looking to redo a living room or refresh a kitchen.  For the quickly approaching new year, it appears that blue will reign supreme.  From softer lighter shades to bold and moody, there appears to be a little something for everyone in these selections.  I am curious to see which ones grace the walls of homes that I tour with buyers in the coming year.

Sherwin Williams Color of the Year 2024:  Upward

This soft shade of blue promotes a sense of peacefulness and calmness in the spaces it inhabits.  The hints of gray keep this color from becoming a pastel shade of blue often seen at baby showers.  While you may not want to take the plunge and paint every wall in your Locust Grove home, this color could easily be incorporated through furniture or fabric.

Benjamin Williams Color of the Year 2024: Blue Nova

If you prefer a darker shade, the blue purple shade elected as color of the year by Benjamin Williams may be for you.  A great background for highlight other colors like a warm burnt orange or bright yellow, this color could work on a cabinet or kitchen island if you just want a touch of it in your home.

Glidden Color of the Year 2024: Limitless

Remember the early 2000’s where warm colors lived on every wall.  Well just like flared jeans, the color is back in a more modern form.  Glidden’s Limitless is a warm yellow shade that can function as a neutral in rooms that homeowners are looking to brighten.  An appealing color that can be used on the walls or for accent, this color also pairs well with darker stained furniture and natural stone countertops.

Valspar Color of the Year 2024: Renew Blue

This calm shade that makes me feel like I live near the ocean is versatile because it can be combined with both cool and warm neutrals; this means that you may not have to complete redo your living room to incorporate this color into it.

Dunn-Edwards Color of the Year 2024: Skipping Stones

If you are interested in a slightly darker shade of blue compared to Upward, then take a look at Skipping Stones.  This medium shade of blue still promotes the calm peacefulness that homeowners welcome into their abodes.  Whether you use it as a wall color or accent, it brings some shades of nature (the sea or sky) into your home.

Minwax Color of the Year 2024 Bay Blue

Even stains are feeling blue!  The blue green shade by Minwax is a great way to change up a standard piece of furniture into a focal point.  Since stain allows the grains of the wood to peer through, you still get the character of the piece while adding some interest.  Perhaps it’s time to experiment on that bookshelf in the corner of your living room?

Behr Color of the Year 2024:  Cracked Pepper

Looking to set a mood in your home?  Search no further than Behr’s dark gray, almost black, shade called Cracked Pepper.  Not quite as harsh and contrasting as black can be against another color, this shade is great for homeowners who want to go all out in setting vibe in a room.

Dutch Boy Paints Color of the Year 2024:  Ironside

This deep olive green color gives off all the moody vibes and may be perfect for that little cozy space that you have been wanting to create in your home.  Less intimidating to take on than a shade like cracked pepper, using this color may be a way to bring in the darker trending shades.
