Are you getting tired of staring at gray walls? Are you ready to inject a little warmth into your living room? Here are some popular home trends that you can try out in your Locust Grove home the next time you are ready to paint a room or redecorate a space.
Painted Ceilings
According to Houzz’s Emerging Summer Trends 2023 report, the number of searches on their website for information about painting a ceiling has increased over last year by sixty eight percent. Homeowners looking to add a little interest in homes have searched about high-gloss ceilings, tongue and groove, wallpapering, and adding black paint to the ceiling. Painting a ceiling can play with the feeling of space in a room. If you paint a high ceiling a bold color it will make the room feel lower, but a bright bold color with neutral walls can make a space feel larger as your eyes are drawn upward. Not ready to be quite so dramatic? You can consider painting the ceiling a couple shades lighter than your already neutral walls.
A tongue and groove paneling can help bring texture to the space too. We had a home that had this one the vaulting ceilings and it did add some character into the space.
Warm Neutrals
Not ready to completely redo a room in your Locust Grove home? Try changing up the paint color. Warm neutral colors that create warm inviting spaces are popular right now. Colors like these along with burgundy, sienna, and mustard help to make a space cozy.
Black Window Trim
Playing into many design styles like farmhouse, modern, or industrial, black window trim is a popular choice when redoing a room. It can draw attention to large windows and make them pop against white walls. Maybe we will see more of this popular home trend in Locust Grove as searches on Houzz for industrial kitchen features like track lighting, stainless steel countertops, and pull down faucets are on the rise.
Walk in Pantries
The interest in incorporating a walk in pantry into a home is trending according to Houzz which saw a 2,636 percent increase in the searches for walk in pantries on their website! Likewise, butler’s pantries (a small room between a kitchen and dining room) are also becoming popular. These areas let you store away all the small appliances, cooking accessories, and food that would otherwise cover your kitchen countertops. Perhaps this trend is related to an increase of interest in using the kitchen as an entertaining area in your home. While you want to lay out the finished appetizers on your kitchen counters, you may not like for guests to see all the dirty dishes that went into making the appetizers. A walk in pantry or butler’s pantry can help you hide that mess.
Timeless Style
Some people enjoy changing up their spaces every few years while others would rather do it once and be done. If you fall into the former category, embracing the popular home trend of a timeless style is for you. Elements like white subway tile, stone countertops, and wood cabinets with neutral paint colors help to create a space that might incorporate elements from different styles but won’t yell, “this kitchen was built in 2023.” With timeless cabinets and countertops, you can easily update the kitchen by swapping out light fixtures, chairs, or faucets.
Are you willing to embrace any of these trends? While there is no space for one in our Locust Grove home, I would appreciate a walk in pantry. Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
