Strategies for making this space in your home in Locust Grove appealing to buyers
If there is one space in our home in Locust Grove that sees the least activity it’s the guest bedroom. While we don’t use it daily, it is an awesome space to have in a home. They make hosting easier and because it is not a room used on a daily basis, they stay cleaner longer. When you are preparing to sell your home in Locust Grove, Lignum or elsewhere, make sure to give this room a little attention too.
Simplify the space
If you are anything like us, our guest bedroom often becomes the catch all room when we don’t have company. Wrapping paper, donation boxes, and out of season decorations all tend to make their way into this space. When you are planning to sell your home in Locust Grove (or anywhere for that matter), go through the guest bedroom and clear out the clutter. Don’t forget to clear out the closet and give the space a deep clean.
Make the bed the focal point.
While for everyday practicality purposes having a bed pushed against a wall makes sense, having it there while staging your home in Locust Grove does not work well. The placement of the bed against a wall makes buyers feel like there is not enough space in the room, so center the bed on a wall in the room. Try to keep the bedding neutral, but you can add a pop of color through a throw blanket or pillow. Keep the furnishings in the room simple and minimal. We want buyers to be able to recognize this room as a guest bedroom, but also be able to picture it as whatever space they may want to make it. It’s okay to take out an extra dresser if it is taking up too much space in the room.
Consider the scale.
Keep the size of the furniture in the bedroom in line with the size of the room. For example, if you have an eight foot by eight foot bedroom, don’t stage it with a king size four poster bed. Buyers will immediately think the room is too small for their queen size bed because they will have difficulty visualizing their furniture in the space. In smaller rooms, think about removing tall wooden footboards or switching out a large headboard for a few pictures hung on the wall above the bed.
Add some green.
To add some texture and interest in the room, consider incorporating a few plants. Pothos can be a good option if you forget to water plants because they are quite hardy. If you are like me and will forget the plant exists since it is in a room I don’t go in often, then go the faux plant route. If your home in Locust Grove has pets, make sure to do a little research and select a houseplant that is safe for them.
Lighten Up
Lighting is always important when you are staging a home. Changing up light bulbs to a brighter color or adding a table on the bedside tables can help to bring light into a space that lacks natural lightening. During showings, make sure to open up the blinds to bring in some natural light to your home in Locust Grove.
