June is that month of the year when we celebrate National homeownership and thank those who helped make the American dream possible for so many: Federal Housing Administration, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, lending institutions, title companies, home inspectors, and Realtors®.
Most Americans still believe in home ownership
According to the National Association of Realtors, NAR, their survey indicated that 84% of all Americans believe that home ownership is a wise financial decision. This number has been steadily increasing since 2007. Among the top two reasons cited where building equity and preparing for retirement. This should not be surprising as the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System noted that for the majority of Americans their home was there largest financial asset.
There are lots of resources if you are thinking about buying a home better at your disposal. From first time home buyer programs, to 3.5% down payment FHA Loans, there are also grants available in specific areas. In it’s 80+ year history FHA has granted over 44 million home loans!
