Spring has sprung and summer is just around the corner.  With the warmer weather comes local fresh fruit and vegetables that haven’t been trucked into the grocery store from across the country!  You can always tell the difference between a local strawberry and one from far away, and the Jones’ are certainly glad to take advantage of the local farmer markets near Locust Grove that give us our fix of fresh and local food.

Culpeper Downtown Farmers Market

Taking place every Saturday from May 6, 2023 to October 8th, the Culpeper Downtown Farmers Market   is located at 318 S. West Street (the Culpeper Baptist Church parking lot) from 7:30-12 p.m. Farmers within seventy five miles of downtown Culpeper gather to sell fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers, meat, and more.

One of the best farmer markets near Locust Grove, Culpeper also hosts special events through its season and offers a kids program to promote healthy eating. In the past, there has been a weekly theme for children to learn about and then they receive coins to buy the related produce in the market.

Spotsylvania Farmers Market

Located at the commuter lots just off of Route Three and Gordon Road near Home Depot, this local farmer markets near Locust Grove is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays through December 16th.  

With forty local vendors, you can find all sorts of fresh local items like fruits, vegetables, breads, honey, meats, plants, and even coffee.  This farmers market also has local food trucks that let you get a snack while you shop. The Spotsylvania Farmers Market also has a Wednesday market in front of Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.

Locust Grove Farmers Market

Located at the intersection of Route 20 and Zoar Road in the parking lot near the Samson Properties Locust Grove office, this Locust Grove farmers market offers fresh produce Saturday mornings from mid April through the fall.
