After tackling the walls, windows, and kitchen areas of your home during spring cleaning, the bathrooms of homes in Locust Grove also require a little attention. The bathroom might just be the most used room in a home. That also means that it can be the messiest. Here are some time saving hacks for deep cleaning the bathroom.

Start from the top

For some reason the bathroom is one of the dustiest rooms in our house. Anyone else? Before beginning, take a few moments to remove everything from the counters.  Then wipe down the walls with a damp microfiber cloth, vacuum the dust out the exhaust vents, and wipe off the tops of the doorways, shower, and mirrors.  There is a shockingly large amount of dust that gathers about the doors at our homes in Locust Grove. Having everything out of the room is helpful because you will not be knocking all the dust on items.

Get rid of mineral build up

Overtime minerals from hard water (hello homes in Locust Grove) can start to clog the shower head and faucets and minimize water flow.  To clean them, grab a plastic sandwich bag, some vinegar, and water.  After everyone is done for the evening, fill the bag with a half of cup of vinegar and a half of cup of water.  Then place the bag over the fixture with the faucet or shower head submerged in the water.  Use the rubber bands to secure the bag in place and let it soak overnight.  In the morning use an old toothbrush to loosen any stuck on sediments.

Use a bleach pen

If you’ve got a spot of grout that you cannot get white no matter how hard you scrub, then try a bleach pen .   Make sure to minimize the contact with your tile and wipe off immediately after.  Using bleach consistently on tile and grout can damage it, so try a test spot and use it sparingly. The materials of most tiles and countertops do not like harsh chemicals and the use of them makes the surface more prone to damage and staining.

Wash Them

Place the washable bath mats and shower curtains in the washing machine to refresh them. Did you know you can also wash the shower liner too? Just put in on the gentle cycle in cool water. Add a few rags into the washing tub to help scrub the liner. Afterwards, simply hang everything back up to dry.

Tackle the shower or bathtub

Use a mixture of one cup vinegar, one cup water, and a half cup of dishwashing liquid to get rid of soap scum on shower doors. For tough stains in bathtubs, try making a paste from two parts baking soda and one part hydrogen peroxide. Let is sit for thirty minutes and then scrub clean.
