Fall officially begins on September 23rd, but for many people the start of September marks the beginning of the season.  Aside from Christmas, the Jones household are not big seasonal decorators.  While we admire those who change their home décor with the seasons, we prefer to add some small changes to our home.  If you are like us or are new homeowners, then here are some ways to add the autumn vibe to your Locust Grove homes.

Start with a pumpkin

Pumpkins are no longer regulated to orange imitations of the real ones.  Any trip down the aisle of a HomeGoods scroll through Amazon will reveal them in every size, shape, and color.  What this means is that you can find some that accent the colors already in your home.  My wife has some teal pumpkins to display since that already coordinates with the colors in our home.  Add them to bookshelves, coffee tables, or on the dining room table to bring those autumn vibes into your Locust Grove homes.

Change up the throw pillows

Pillows are not easy to store in a home.  They take up a lot of room and always seem to fall off of the shelf.  Throw pillow covers are easy to store and save you money in the long run.  Check out all the different fall themed covers available on Amazon and select ones that are the right size for the pillows you already have.  When the season is over, you can take them off and store them with the rest of your sheets.

Add a plaid blanket

Even in the summer there is always a blanket on the couch for the littlest Jones to snuggle up with while reading or watching tv.  Adding a plaid blanket can like this one can help to warm up the room and make it feel cozier and warm and cozy is the essence of fall.

Invest in Mums

Mums are flowers that bloom throughout fall.  These hardy plants become numerous in the gardening section of the store once the summer plants fade.  The best part is that mums planted outside can come back year after year with some proper care.   Planting them in a flower pot and then moving them towards your front door while they bloom is a great way to add the autumn vibe to the exterior of Locust Grove homes.

Add texture

Part of developing a cozy feeling in a space is adding texture.  Layering the woven placemats from summer with a plaid napkin can add the autumn vibe to a space.  Likewise, a chunky knit blanket or plaid doormat can help up the coziness of a space.  You can also switch out the floral displays in vases for pampas grass arrangements in rich autumn hues of dark orange, deep yellows, or burgundies.

Add scents

As the days grow shorter, a glowing candle helping to illuminate a room certainly adds to the fall feeling in Locust Grove homes.  Likewise scents like warm apple or pumpkin spice add to the vibe. You can find candles almost anywhere, but don’t forget to check out local stores and farmer’s markets for unique scents from small business owners.

It only takes some little changes to bring autumn vibes to Locust Grove homes. The cooler, crisp air in the morning and shorter days also certainly help to usher in the season.
