Pest inspections are a part of the home buying or selling process. Even if you, as a seller, know that the home doesn’t have any pests, a pest inspection must still be done. Keep reading to find out why.
What is a pest inspection?
Once you have a home under contract, the buyers will do some inspections, like a home and water quality (if you have a well), to learn a little more about the parts of the home that may not have been examined on their first walk through the property. These inspections are part of the contract for purchasing the house. When people think pests, they immediately think about mice and termites. Pest inspections aren’t just looking for termites in your Locust Grove home. There are other critters that can do damage. Wood destroying insects like carpenter bees can destroy the integrity of the structure of your home and are also part of the pest inspection.
Who does a pest inspection?
A licensed pest inspector will examine the exterior and interior of the home to find evidence of pest activity. The inspector will create a written report that is shared with the sellers and buyers.
Why do I need a pest inspection?
Most loan programs require a passing inspection in order to finance the purchase. Without the inspection, the buyers would not be able obtain a mortgage.
