Tudor homes began back in the 1600’s in England as large castles made of stone and wood. Remnants of the original style are seen today in American Tudor homes. Large two story homes with brick or stucco and timber, Tudors have steep roofs, gables, and windows with square or diamond shaped panes. Unlike a raised ranch or colonial homes, Tudors are asymmetrical which leads to a unique layout inside. The Tudor fell out of fashion after the 1940’s, so most of the homes are older and like any older home requires a thorough home inspection before purchase.
