We are celebrating a little early this year! Since the Fourth of July is on a Tuesday this year, Lake of the Woods will host their annual Independence Day Celebration on Saturday July 1, 2023. There are multiple events throughout the day for residents with homes in Lake of the Woods including a parade and events at the clubhouse.
The Independence Day Parade will start off the day at 10. The parade begins at Yorktown and Lakeview Parkway and heads down to the Clubhouse. If you plan to watch the parade at the Clubhouse parking lot, then plan to arrive before 9:30. The parking lot will close for the parade at 9:30.
You can get a closer look at the antique and classic cars that were in the parade afterwards at the upper parking lot of the Clubhouse. Then from eleven to four, you can go to the clubhouse to see the Family Fun Fest and Vendor Expo. There will be games for kids and vendors for parents. If you get hungry, the Clubhouse will have an outdoor booth with food for purchase and a Beer Truck will be there thanks to the LOW Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company.
At six, you can watch the water ski show.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., Lake of the Woods fireworks are what everyone looks forward to the most. Residents and their guests gather near the dam on blankets and chairs or on the water by the front gate entrance to watch the fireworks. If you are new to Lake of the Woods, then plan to set your chairs out early. Lakeview Parkway near the front gate closes to traffic shortly before the Lake of the Woods fireworks begin. Not a resident? Many people gather in the parking lot of Food Lion or find a spot (safety first please!) along the side of Route 3 to enjoy the show.
