Are you ready to freshen up a room in your home this year?  After taking down all the holiday decorations, rooms in our Locust Grove homes can feel a little cool and barren.  If this feeling has you ready to make a few changes, then check out these 2024 home trends. Many of these trends aren’t new concepts, but they are features that are rising in popularity once again. Just like the return of the flared jean, good design elements never really leave us.

Blue is the Winner

If you want to refresh some wall in your Locust Grove home or add a splash of color through fabrics consider blue.

Various shades of blue have been named color of the year from paint companies that predict 2024 home trends. Blue is a versatile color than in darker shades can give a room a moody feel or in a light tropical shade can be cheery.

Hello Warm Neutrals, Goodbye Grey

Warm neutral colors, like beige, are helping to create warm and inviting spaces inside homes.  While neutral colors are welcoming on larger investment pieces like a coach, expect to see more neutral shades on walls too.  (Houzz) As response to the years of cool toned gray that were popular, 2024 home trends favor warm toned neutrals in all rooms of a home.

Appliance Garages

While this concept is nothing new, the use of appliance garages in kitchen design is seeing a resurgence.  Having a spot tuck away heavier items (I’m looking at you KitchenAid mixer) while still having them easily accessible is the appeal of an appliance garage.  Unlike the ones of the past, new garages feature outlets so that the appliance doesn’t have to be moved very far.  A surge in popularity of butler pantries or walk in pantry, another 2024 home trends, is also reflective of the idea of wanting to have clean countertops even in the kitchen. The appliance garage is a perfect solution for homes that don’t have the space for a walk in pantry.

Herringbone Patterns

Whether it is on the floor of a bathroom or the backsplash of a kitchen, incorporating a herringbone pattern into design is going to one of 2024 home trends.  A great way to add interest to any space, herringbone patterns laid vertically or diagonally take this traditional pattern and twist it into something new. Look for tiles in warm neutral colors as well as blues and greens.

Fluted Pieces

Fluted details in furniture is becoming trendy according to Houzz. Whether it is a traditional addition to a column, an addition to a kitchen island, or an accent table, fluted details add texture and depth to a room. These pieces also bring some texture into a room.

I am curious to see what 2024 home trends are embraced by home owners when I show homes. I think that warmer neutral paint colors and herringbone tile patterns will start making appearances in homes this year and are certainly trends we’ve seen in the past. Are you welcoming the return of these home features? Are there any trends you would like to see in your own home? Let me know!
