I think I saw the first Halloween decorations at the beginning of August this year.  For any enthusiasts who love to deck out their Locust Grove homes for the event, there are a lot of things out there to make your home the spookiest in the neighborhood.  However, if you aren’t on board with the three hundred dollar twelve foot skeleton, I’ve got some budget friendly ideas for you!

Inside your Locust Grove home

Soap with Spiders

Give guests a fright by adding some plastic spiders and other creepy crawlers to the inside of your hand soap container.  You can pick these up at Dollar Tree or other like stores.

Eye Ball Flower Arrangements

Head over to a craft supply stores and pick up some dark colored flowers.  Then add some eyeballs to the center using some glue for an extra creepy centerpiece.

Bat Infestation

Grab some black construction paper, scissors, and tape to add a little scary to your walls.  Draw or find an outline of a bat (quick Google search should yield many results).  Fold your black construction paper in half and trace the pattern.  Then hold as many pieces of folder construction paper together as your scissors can handle and cut away to create a bunch of bats that you can hang on the wall.  Since they were folded, hanging them on the fold will add some extra dimension to the display.

Ghosts

These may not be quite so scary, but they are easy to make for your Locust Grove home.  Get some white balloons, a black marker, a package of balloon sticks and white streamers.   Blow up the balloons and place them on the sticks.  Add a spooky face using the marker.  Then tape the streamers onto the bottom of the balloon.  You can use a clear vase to hold them or tape them to the wall.

Outside of your Locust Grove home

Glowing Eyes

Make the kids who come to your front door while trick or treating a little hesitant with this easy idea.  Take some paper towel tubes and cut out different eye shapes.  Then grab some glow sticks, break them and put them inside the tubes.  Hang them in a tree or nestle in bushes.

Front Door Transformation

Change your door to a monster by using some white tape and streamers to create a face.  You can also wrap your door with white ribbon and add some construction paper eyes to create a mummy.

Stick Ghosts

Add some ghosts to the walk way of your Locust Grove home by gathering up some wooden dowels an old white sheet, foam balls like these, white ribbon, and a black marker.  To assemble:  Push the dowel into the foam ball.  Cut a piece of the sheet  and drape over the ball.  Then tie a ribbon around the bottom of the ball to create the ghost shape.  Add a spook face with the black marker.
