Independence Day falls on a Thursday this year; maybe some of us will get to enjoy a long weekend or will have to return to work on Friday.  Either way, you’ll be able to enjoy the Lake of the Woods fireworks and other festivities that are set to be celebrated on Saturday July 6, 2024.

Every year, Lake of the Woods sponsors several different events throughout the day.  You can begin your day by watching the Independence Day parade that starts at the intersection of Yorktown and Lakeview Parkway and moves toward the clubhouse.  This parade is filled with different community organizations, cars, fire trucks, and more. It begins at 10 a.m.

Later in the day, there will be a car display in the clubhouse parking lot from eleven to two p.m. While you are there, the point will be hosting a festival with food vendors, crafts, and more from noon to four p.m. Big Country Amusement Rides will be there with a kiddie carousel, obstacle course, and moon bounces. The Ski Club will hold a show on the lake at six thirty.

Then in the evening, you can take in the beautiful Lake of the Woods fireworks display.  Residents gather near the dam to watch the fireworks from grass or even on a boat.  Lakeview Parkway around the clubhouse is shut down before the Lake of the Woods fireworks begin, so plan on not having access to this main road before and during the fireworks.  Many residents set out lawn chairs and blankets earlier in the day to save a spot for later.
