Outdoor Activities

One of the biggest draws to Lake of the Woods is in the name- the lake!  There are actually two lakes in the community.  The big lake is where residents can enjoy exploring the water by kayak, water ski, on a boat, or sailing.  You can also swim and play in the sand at one of the many beaches surrounding the lake or just enjoy the views from the clubhouse or during a stroll.  Lake Keaton, the small lake, also has a beach.  Because of it’s size, only electric (or man) powered motor craft can glide on the lake.  With the trees surrounding homes and nearby wooded areas, Lake of the Woods is often visited by wildlife including deer and the occasional wandering bear.  

Community Activities in Lake of the Woods

Did you know that Lake of the Woods has over forty clubs that residents can join?  There is a community theater group, Lake of the Woods Players, that puts on several shows throughout the year.  From bowling to gardening, community outreach and beyond, the clubs are a great way to meet people when you are new to the neighborhood. Throughout the year there are also events held for residents with homes in Lake of the Woods like the Fourth of July parade and fireworks.

Residents with homes in Lake of the Woods benefit from the large list of amenities that the community maintains.  There are two swimming pools with kiddie wading pools that keep you cool during the summer if you don’t want to take a dip in the lake.  Tennis and basketball courts, numerous parks with playgrounds, walking trails, a clubhouse, and a community center are all within the neighborhood.  You can enjoy a meal at the restaurants in the clubhouse, work out at the fitness center that overlooks the lake, or head to the equestrian center for a horse back riding lesson.
